Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute - RPI- is positioned as one of the nationwide leaders in engineering research. The Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies building is a stunning example of this commitment.
BHI performed all the foundation, masonry, precast concrete, and structural steel work on this 218,000 square foot structure with a brick exterior and accompanying concrete parking garages.
BHI was selected to build the parking garages on campus, because of the challenges presented by historical foundations that remain in some locations of the hillside campus. The job required extensive site work. No one would suspect that hidden below the parking structure is a huge concrete vault with 20’ thick concrete walls, which houses extensive mechanical and electrical services.
